FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common Questions
DO I REALLY NEED THERAPY?
I am a big supporter of the theory that everyone can benefit from therapy. Therapy allows for a safe space for some of those 80-90 thousand thoughts per day that the average person experiences to be spoken aloud, noticed, processed, and moved past. Even if not for long term, I believe most everyone can benefit from speaking to a therapist. We will discuss this further in your complimentary 15 minute phone consultation.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?
Ultimately it is an individual's or couple's goals and needs that drive the duration, approach, and process of therapy. In my experience, this can take anywhere from a specific, defined, intensive 12 week period, to years of regular processing and support. We will discuss this further in your complimentary 15 minute phone consultation.
HOW SHOULD I CHOOSE A THERAPIST?
The relationship between a therapist and an individual receiving therapy is a unique one, unlike any other relationships we naturally form in life. In order for therapy to work as designed, it is important that this be a trusting, safe, and positive relationship. The complimentary 15 minute phone consultation is a good opportunity to determine if this is likely to be the right match for both of us.
WHAT IS THE COST OF A SESSION?
I do not currently bill health insurance. In order to bill health insurance a diagnosis is required that does not always meet an individual's or couple's unique needs and circumstances. Additionally, substantial paperwork can also be required which may take away from the time in session. My fee is $140 for a 50 minute individual session, or $210 for a 75 minute couple session. The fee is due at time of session via cash, check, or card. A scheduled session that is cancelled with less than 24-hour notice may be charged the session fee in entirety.
